Indian start-up behemoth Byjus is all set to amass US-based Tynker. The latter is a coding platform for youths, which would be the newest addition to the checklist of acquisitions BYJUs has undertaken up to now yr. In 2021 alone, the 16.5Mn start-up has acquired half a dozen corporations by spending over $2 Billion. These vary from upskilling, education, faculty training and aggressive exams.   

Since its basis, this can be its fifteenth acquisition. This comes a yr and a half sooner than when Byju’s is planning to go public. With this acquisition, the EdTech platform is ready to consolidate itself as a frontrunner within the K12 phase. This acquisition is second in line within the coding phase after Byju’s acquired Whitehat Jr for $300 Mn in August 2020. 

Tynker was based in 2012 by Srinivas Mandyam, Krishna Vedati, and Kelvin Chong in California. It teaches youngsters aged between 5 and 18 how you can develop coding expertise together with inventive coding, Minecraft, amongst others. It has reached 90,000 faculties masking 60 million youngsters.
