A big nationwide flag hoisted atop a 111-foot flagpole, the tallest within the Kashmir Valley, was put in at a stadium in Shopian district which has been the worst hit by many years of militancy. Lt Gen D P Pandey who heads the strategically situated XV Corps of the military within the Kashmir Valley unfurled the flag on Tuesday. Later, a track-and-field competitors was organised for the youth of south Kashmir districts, together with Pulwama, Anantnag and Kulgam.
