Mamata on NMP: Assets belong to nation; BJP, Modi do not personal them

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday slammed the Centre over its National Monetisation Pipeline (NMP) coverage, claiming that it’s a ploy to promote property that belong to the nation and to not Prime Minister Narendra Modi or the BJP.

Terming the NMP as a “shocking and unfortunate decision”, the Trinamool Congress supremo alleged that the cash raised by promoting these property can be used throughout elections towards opposition events.

“We condemn this shocking and unfortunate decision. These assets belong to the country. It is the property of neither Modi nor the BJP. They (central government) can’t just sell a country’s assets as per their whims and fancies,” Banerjee instructed reporters on the state secretariat Nabanna.

The whole nation will stand collectively and oppose this “anti-people” resolution, she stated.

“The BJP should be ashamed. No one has given them the right to sell our nation’s assets,” she stated.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday introduced Rs 6 lakh crore National Monetisation Pipeline (NMP) that can look to unlock worth in infrastructure property throughout sectors starting from energy to street and railways.
