An encounter broke out between safety forces and militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Friday, officers stated.
“It is a gaggle of three to 4 terrorists of which two are international terrorists,” Additional Director General of Police, Jammu Zone, Mukesh Singh, said, adding that “we feel they have moved from Kashmir to this side”.
Security forces had been monitoring a gaggle of militants within the forest belts of the district for the previous one month by way of digital surveillance, he stated.
“Today, we bought inputs from Thanamandi and get in touch with was established with the terrorists, leading to an encounter within the forest belt,” Singh said.
The operation was going on when the reports last came in, the officials said.
Rajouri SP Sheema Nabi Qasba, who is supervising the operation, confirmed that there was exchange of fire.
